I say all of this because the folks at the P.C. are now coming out of the shadow of the old W.W.E. developmental programs. For this era their main competition has been from the O.V.W. class of 2002. Back in Ohio Valley Wrestling in the early 2000s the W.W.E. developmental program went through O.V.W. It's most successful class is considered the 2002 class. Having produced John Cena, Brock Lesnar, Dave Batista, Randy Orton, Shelton Benjamin all from the same class made this the most successful class in the history of O.V.W. Four out five of those performers have main evented WrestleMania, won the Royal Rumble, and numerous championships between them. When you look at that list realize that only one of them had a family member or other connection to wrestling. So if O.V.W. can produce four WrestleMania main eventers, five future Hall of Famers then the Performance Center should be able to produce performers of that level as well.
I know some people will say that it's still too early for W.W.E. to create performers that talented. But here's the thing. Triple H has stated that the Performance Center has more resources then anything W.W.E. or any other company has ever had. Coming from him that should not be considered an understatement. He was a product of Killer Kowalskis school and the W.C.W. Power Plant. This is someone who knows first hand that the Performance Center has more tools, teachers and the recruiting ability to create the main eventers of the future. In his beginnings of the business you didn't have anywhere near the access or levels of knowledge available at the Performance Center. Keep in mind this year will mark the fifth year of the Performance Center. Meaning this is the year questions start getting asked. Also the youngest member of the class of 2002 is currently Randy Orton at 37 years old. All the others are 40 years and above. The need for the younger next generation of W.W.E. creations is something Triple H will start getting questions about. The initial investment into the P.C. will have to be justified with big results. Which brings me to the question of how many performers are they going to create in the next five years to offset the number of indy wrestlers that they are bringing into NXT? To me the answer is not that important but you figure at least two is a must.
I think they have to keep bringing in indy wrestlers basically now and forever. It's a necessary thing for most performers outside the W.W.E. system to help acclimate and introduce them to the W.W.E. audience. Sure there will be the A.J. Styles, Kenny Omega, and Young Bucks who have enough name value so they can skip NXT for the main roster but that will be rare. The Performance Center will be where most performers go to show that they can be future money earners for NXT and then the W.W.E. Keep in mind money is the main thing that will prove the work that goes into creating the future performers of the W.W.E. is worth the efforts. This is another reason to keep bringing in indy talents but those outsiders will also have to earn their keep as well. Otherwise that saying of, "You are not here to FILL a spot, You are here to TAKE a spot" will apply to them very quickly. Enjoy.
