Review: The Postman Always Rings Twice

The Postman Always Rings Twice The Postman Always Rings Twice by James M. Cain
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

This book is about a dishonorable man doing dishonorable things and paying for it in the end. It’s a short book but it’s not enjoyable. The lead character is a terrible person who wants to do terrible things just because he’s bored. The woman is pointlessly dumb but good looking. That’s the only selling point about her. The rest is silly and you just read the chapters to get through the book. The writing is fine but of its time. While the layout of the story is actually well done there are too many coincidences that lead to the end of the book. I can’t recommend this book as the characters are annoying to me. If you want to read a noir kind of book this one is short but it’s not an enjoyable read.
