Video Games: Steam Summer Sale 2017

Remember just last month in my post about the Value of Backwards Compatibility. In that post I mentioned Valves Steam and their great sales. Well guess what time it is? It's time once again for the annual Steam Summer Sale, (hurrahs & applause for 30 seconds) starting yesterday. The summer sale goes from Thursday, June 22nd, 2017 to Wednesday, July 5th, 2017. Now if you read the post you remember that I mentioned that some of these games have their prices cut down dramatically. A perfect example of this is on the front page of the Steam website. The Lord of the Rings game Middle Earth: Shadows of Mordor is on sale. In the previous post I mentioned how I bought that game back in December for $10. Well I should have waited because I overpaid by $6. That game is on sale right now for $4. Yes, I know it says $3.99 but fuck you and a penny its $4 fucking dollars. The current regular price is $20 so it being on sale for $4 is amazing.

It's not just games on Steam. What? You didn't know? There are movies and television series on Steam. Have you seen Dredd or the anime Berserk? Would you like to buy these movies? You can since their on sale. Berserk is on sale for the price of $2.79. That's not a typo. Dredd is $5.59. Those are insane prices aren't they.

The fact that the sale is going on should be a sign for you to go checkout a Best Buy or GameStop in the coming weeks. Also check out the PlayStation store and Xbox Live marketplace. The reason is comparison shopping. Look at the prices on games and see which ones are on "sale". By sale I mean the price is cut so low it shocks you. Try looking up Final Fantasy VII on the PlayStation store. Then go look it up on Steam. See what the cost is between both outlets. While you may or may not have played that game just knowing that two places sell a game that's 20 years old this year at different prices should be an eye opener for you.

I'm looking forward to downloading Doom for $15 this weekend. Remember, I had it on my wishlist when it was selling for $20. I also mentioned Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic was selling for $10 just a month ago. Well now it's $2.50, with the sequel to that game also selling for $2.50. For $5 you can have both of these great games in your Steam library. A game like Wolfenstein: The New Order which has its sequel Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus coming out in October is selling for $10. You get the point of what I'm saying. The Steam Summer Sale is great for the consumer. It's great for the game companies because people will buy games they may have avoided because of price. Now with that not being a major obstacle I recommend you buy a pre-paid Steam card and get some great games.
