If you noticed I'm kind of on a roll with this. Missing all these weeks of not blogging has got me backed up.
Enough main event talk, for this one lets go mid-card on Raw. You know that Dean Ambrose is finally going to turn heel at SummerSlam right? After advocating it for this for years we finally get the much needed, long awaited Ambrose heel turn. You have to see that coming considering that Seth Rollins is finally catching on as a good guy. Now he needs Dean to be his direct opposite as he challenges for the Universal and Intercontinental Championships. It doesn't make sense to reunite The Shield if one third of them is not in the group. Just Rollins and Ambrose together is NOT The Shield. It's like saying here are three out four of the Horsemen, it just doesn't click.
Ambrose needs a heel turn because he's not a good babyface. Seth is a natural babyface who can do a decent heel. You just don't hate Seth, he's more annoying than hated. Ambrose just fits the heel role easily because not giving a fuck is simple for him. It'll work fine as long as Dean gets to work with Seth for the next three months. From there he can work with Balor and maybe Reigns.
The whole Jason Jordan being Kurt Angles son thing is bad. I look at this and think that Chad Gabel made a good choice by turning down the role. You have to think that he turned it down. Think about it, he's got more in common with Kurt Angel than Jason Jordan does. The whole National Champion, former Olympian, great amateur wrestling, he's caucasian things. Everything fits more for him being the "son" of Kurt Angle more than Jason Jordan. I know Jordan has the size, look, skills, and blah, blah, Vince loves these things. But Jordan hasn't figured out how to relax and get over. He's not ready for the moment yet. There's a big difference between being ready for a spot and ready for the moment. He's going to learn that the hard way unfortunately. But putting him in this program won't help him long term in my opinion.
I'm hoping that after SummerSlam The Miz and The Miz-Tourage get back on track. With the Revival out of action Raw needs at team for The Hardys to feud with. Having Miz host MizTV with the Hardys as guest could be great television. That segment would lead to a Miz-Tourage versus Hardys feud which might take the Miz-Tourage to the Tag Team Championships. My bet would be the promos between The Miz and a Broken-ish Matt Hardy would be something to watch. The Miz will probably be feuding with either Balor or Rollins with Ambrose acting as the secondary heel. If I'm The Moz I hope to get back to Smackdown where he was more clearly defined as a top five guy on that show. On Raw as Intercontinental Champion he's maybe number 8 on the priorities list.
I'm guessing that if Samoa Joe were to win the Universal Championship on Sunday that could help get Finn Balor back in that title picture. Finn versus Brock would never sell but with Joe it could. They already have history so it's an easy sell if your WWE especially if your trying to get people to buy the WWE Network. I don't want to get into a, Samoa Joe should win on Sunday post, but if you need guys like Balor, Rollins, Wyatt, Reigns, even The Miz as legitimate contenders Joes the obvious choice. The WWE needs to make the Universal Championship relevant. It will be the one year anniversary of the establishment of that Championship and the current champion has defended the Championship on television less than five times. Samoa Joe strikes a good balance to help elevate mid-card talent to the main event level while not lower his status or that of the Championship. And making the main eventers like Lesnar, Reigns and yes, Strouman look like they could win the title on any given night.
This coming September WWE will launch into its "New" season. Now, I know and I'm guessing you know, there is no such thing as a "New" season for WWE. The only thing that comes close is WrestleMania ending storylines and the night after' Mania starting new ones. That's about as close as they get to a "New" season. But since the National Football league and network television network will launch their new "Fall" season shows WWE does something similar. Therefore we may get a superstar shakeup. Now I don't think this will be a full draft but it will bring in some talents from NXT. So Bobby Roode making Monday Nights "GLORIOUS" will be great. Asuka going to Smackdown will be great. I'm guessing that The Authors of Pain will shift the landscape on whichever brand they end up on. I will leave the Velveteen Dream out of this but it wouldn't surprise me if he or No Way Jose showed up. Either way the next crop of NXT talents should be coming up sooner than expected.
Now even lower on the card I wonder what will they do with Curt Hawkins and Heath Slater. Two guys with loads of talent but I'm starting to wonder what will happen with them. Someone like Kalisto will soon be one 205 Live while Apollo Crews becomes the next Vince pet project. But if I'm Heath Slater wouldn't seeing what happened with the other former members of 3MB be a wake call? Those new talents coming in aren't going to be the last group ever to come in. Maybe its time to really look at where he wants his next match at WrestleMania to be. Is it another pre-show or is it main show in a match that matters. I hope he decides soon cause time will not wait for him to make a choice. That's all I got for now. Enjoy.
