Review: Blade Runner 2049

This is a film, it is not a movie. If you don't know the difference than that's not my problem. The sequel to the original from 1982 does something that should be improbable, it's as good, some might say better, then the original. I did not expect a movie calling itself Blade Runner to be something that could meet the expectations that would come with the name. Somehow this project managed to take itself from being a movie into a film. It being a sequel makes it even more impressive of a project. The original Blade Runner had many layers to it. So many layers that people still argue about them. This film manages to answer some of them and impose new ones. I know it might not be the popular opinion but I think this film should be considered for an Oscar nomination for Best Picture. It will obviously be nominated for sound, visual and digital Oscars awards but Screen Play and Best Picture hopefully get accepted as well. If Mad Max can be nominated then this film should be nominated. I thought Mad Max was highly overrated but this film is not. I have the urge to not only re-watch this film but to also watch the original (Final Cut) and then watch this again just to get the complete picture of what was done in this film. We don't often get a sci-fi movie this good so I want to enjoy this achievement for as long as I can. I think this movie did the inverse of the original. Where the ending of the first story is written backward in the new one. That is great filmmaking that I want to see again.
